After months of the piles of laundry annoying me, I'm finally back to being able to hang it out...probably my favorite "chore" to do. (I know Carla is probably wondering why I am only posting this now after a month of laundry-hanging weather) I kept forgetting to hang it on these nice days and then would be so annoyed at myself as I remembered when the dryer was finished. Well, I'm back and actually looking for random things around the house to wash, so I can hang them out. I'm always amazed at the bleaching power of the sun, so I've been saving some of my dingy whites to do now. I have our comforter hanging this morning.
Wow, really interesting stuff so far, I know! While I'm writing about the riveting news, I'll add that we found Bob (under a seat in the car), Archibald, (under the crib) a GeoTrax guy, (under my bed), and a shot from the Dr. kit (Under the oven). Still missing those French peas...frustrating!
Not too much else, though I could go on and on about this awesome weather...
I know it's a little rough-looking, but this is the inside of the cake. Last picture, I swear!
So, for my question, or dilemma: The past 2 nights Avalyn has had a hard time going back to sleep after I feed her. She is only getting up once between 3 and 4am, which is great, but has reverted back to wanting to stay up. I have found that she sleeps great when I just give up and put her in bed beside me, but I do not want to start this habit, as much as I would LOVE to. Light sleep is better than no sleep, but that's a tough habit to break. She also sleeps great on her stomach and herein lies my dilemma. All I see, read and hear is "Back to sleep" because of the SIDS thing. She is fine napping and going to bed initially on her back, but is restless after that 3-4am feeding. I would love to just let her sleep on her stomach because she does so well, but I would never forgive myself if something would happen and I knew the warnings...it doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but I thought I would just put it out there in case anyone had strong feelings either way...

Have you tried one of those side positioner things that kinda wedges them in place? We use that for awhile until they seem too big for it...but on the other hand, Jaelyn was a belly sleeper and I was paranoid at first but she did fine!
I put both my kids to sleep on there belly after they could pick there head up well from a laying position. Bryce was about 5 days old and Bailey was probably closer to 2 weeks. They slept much better. Having a nuk helps reduce the risk of SIDS! For the first little while I used one of those water-proof lap pads, it is thick and stiff, yet kinda like a sheet, and I knew there was no way they would sufficate laying on that! Lawanda slept all of hers on there belly's and I know my mom slept us on our belly's (b/c that was recommended back then). So for what it is worth, try it ~ it is probably safer then putting her in bed with you (Soft mattress). Just my thoughts, hope they help! It is those little things that can really get you the second time around!!!! Good Luck!

I hear ya on this one. Blake was very restless sleeping on his back. I put him on his tummy and he slept great! He still sleeps in that position, in fact. :) I also worried about the whole SIDS thing, so I put him on his tummy for naps to start with so I could keep an eye on him. Then I felt comfortable doing it at night. I would say I started that at about 6 weeks or so. If Ethan seems to have the same problem, I will definitely do it again. For now, I'm sleeping Ethan on his back and using the Miracle Blanket to swaddle him. Have you ever heard of it? It's great. He seems to really like it. I've also heard good things about the wedge-positioner thing, although I've never used one.
By the way, your cake looks amazing! I can't wait to get mine!! :)
All three of my kids slept on their tummy. It was the only way they would sleep - especially at night! I say go with the tummy. (I will say that it made me a little nervous at first since all the books act like they will die instantly, but I have 3 healthy kidos! I did check on them alot the first few nights.)
I did all of the above too. The side wedgie thing. Really loved that because they were somewhat snug and if they spit it rolled right out. But I also had to put some of my children on their bellies eventually. I also really swaddled them early on to feel comforted and they were okay on their backs, but I think babies grow out of that stage and maybe you have to now try the belly. Valerie
