Those HOT days of summer...

...are here and it's technically not even summer yet! We set up Owen's pool (not so much "set up" as dropped the little plastic thing on the ground and ran the water for 5 minutes) and he has been loving it! He was swimming before dinner last night and Ryan lasted about 5 minutes outside with him before he was in the pool too.

This morning I told Owen he could swim before the heat of the day kicked in...that was kind-of pointless since it was 90 degrees by 8:30. We lasted for a little over an hour and then Owen's highlight of the week happened...
Side note: He just got out of the pool...I usually do comb his hair. This IS how he wakes up in the morning...looking like Einstein.
Friends of ours are headed to Disney, so we're fish-sitting. I was not crazy about the idea because I do not have a good track record with pet sitting, to say the least. I won;t have to worry about Owen being occupied for the next 8 days because Dorothy the fish will keep him busy. I have to chuckle at myself because every time I walk through the kitchen I find myself amazed that the fish is still alive. It's been 3 hours and I'm already patting myself on the back. Pathetic, I know. I also realize that my poor, petless, animal-loving child will probably be scoring a new fish out of the deal. If he feeds it, he is going to be aloud to go to the store with me and pick one when Dorothy leaves us...or should I say, IF Dorothy makes it out of here alive.

With the major heat wave going on, O's been playing a lot more dress-up and I have actually scrapbooked 2 pages. Tonight I need to run to get Father's Day gifts and a gift for a 3 year old b-day party this weekend...I asked Owen if Daddy could have anything he wanted, what would it be...to which he replied, "Marbles, lots of marbles." I asked him a few different times, at different times throughout the day, but the answer remained the same, "Marbles" Thanks for all the help, Owen.
Well, gotta go do something productive. Yesterday I made 4 meals, 2 ice cream cakes, a double batch of mini pecan pies and finished the menu for the next 2 weeks. The thought of going in my kitchen does not seem appealing right now, but I have to go check on Dorothy...it's been 30 minutes...

One last picture...I came into the room to find Owen had crawled into Avalyn's little gym thing and they were both craning their necks to watch Sesame Street. Owen has the need to be cuddling at all times. Too cute!
Until next time...

Love the photos. We have also been spending LOTS of time in the pool and A/C.

As for the marbles... did you ask what kind? I will explain more later.

Our fish only lived 2 weeks. So I don't think we will do that again for some time and I really hated cleaning the tank. What if a fish touch me?! YUCK! Can you tell I am a city girl?

Great pics! I love Owen's hair all messy! Kara and Josh have been living in their pool these last couple of days.

If you get a fish, make sure you get a Beta. Those things live forever. I actually got a cheap little tank at wal mart that has a filter...so I wouldn't have to clean the tank out often... I did kill one fish b/c I used fresh, cold tap water. You are supposed to use room temp water that has been exposed to the air for 24 hours...just a FYI
